This beautifully preserved historic city, full of Baroque architecture, pedestrianised cobbled streets, cafe filled squares and a traditional daily market, is perfect for a short or weekend break. Throughout the year Varazdin stages numerous events including a film festival, winter market and Spancirfest, which runs for 10days in late August, bringing together international street performers, musicians and visual artists, displaying multi media, painting, product design and local crafts.
In 1756 the City of Varazdin was the capital of Croatia and retains a sense of grandeur. Located just over 45 minutes drive from Croatia's current capital Zagreb, it is eaily accessible while remaining relatively undiscovered, affording those with a more inquisitive nature an insight into another side of Croatia.
